Unfriend Checker

WhatsApp allows users to send each other voice messages. This is useful if you’d rather not type out long messages or if you’re worried about the tone of your message getting lost while in text form. However, the downside is that you can’t leave the chat while the message is playing, otherwise the message gets cut off and you have to start again.

However, a report from WABetaInfo has discovered that WhatsApp seems to be testing out a new feature in the form of a global voice message player. What does this mean? You could think of this similar to picture-in-picture mode where even if you leave the chat, the video continues to play. In this case, the voice message will continue to play even when you leave.

This means that in the event you receive a particularly long message and you need to attend to other chats, you can leave the current chat and the message will continue to play. The controls appear to be placed at the top of the app where users will have the option to pause/play the voice message as and when they wish.

For those who heavily utilize voice messages, this could be a useful feature to look forward to. It’s currently in beta so it is unclear if the final form will be the same or if WhatsApp could make some changes along the way.
