There is a reason why companies like Samsung are amongst the top smartphone vendors of the world. This is because the company is known for creating extremely popular phones beloved by millions around the world, and every year, their new releases always get a ton of attention.

However, it seems that this year isn’t Samsung’s year because according to a report from ET News, the company is apparently seeing a decline in shipments. The company typically hits close to 300 million phones shipped every year since 2011, however for 2020, it appears that Samsung won’t even come close.

According to the figures, Samsung shipped an estimated 189 million phones by the end of Q3 2020, and the estimates are suggesting that they won’t be hitting 270 million by the end of the year. There is a chance that the global pandemic and the worsening global economy could have a part to play in these declined shipments.

It is also possible that phones have gotten too expensive where people are now starting to look at alternatives to Samsung, which some Chinese OEMs are starting to fill the gap with their slightly more affordable, but yet equally powerful, handsets. In any case, we’ll have to wait until 2021 to see how well Samsung will fare then.
