The legal battle between Apple and Epic is starting to grow a bit out of hand. Epic has recently filed a motion that could force Apple to allow Fortnite back into the App Store, and now according to a report from Reuters, it looks like Apple has turned the tables and is now countersuing Epic.

The lawsuit against Epic is for monetary damages over lost App Store fees and other damages as a result of Fortnite no longer part of the App Store. It is a bit ironic considering that Apple was the one that removed Fortnite in the first place for violating the company’s terms and conditions of the App Store.

In addition to seeking damages for lost App Store revenue, Apple is also seeking damages for harm towards its reputation as a result of the entire legal drama, along with a PR campaign that Epic released that painted Apple in a negative light. Like we said, the entire thing reeks of irony on both sides.

Had Epic simply adhered to the rules and regulations, this wouldn’t be a problem. The same can also be said for Apple, where if they had allowed Fortnite back into the App Store, there wouldn’t be any App Store fees “lost” in the process. We doubt that this saga will be dying down anytime soon, but its implications could be huge as several regulators around the world have already been looking into companies like Apple over potential antitrust issues.
